YUM! A Hot Chocolate Festival?

That's right kids. City Bakery is holding their 18th Annual Hot Chocolate Festival and Night of Knitting. Night of Knitting? It's like Christmas for grandmas! Each day of February, the City Bakery on 18th Street at 5th Avenue will feature a different type of hot chocolate, from Bourbon Hot Chocolate and Darkest Dark Hot Chocolate to stranger flavors like Beer + Brown Sugar and Banana Peel.

Check out the calendar for a full list of flavors.

Caveman Diet - When will the hipsters stop?

I would certainly be frightened if I stumbled upon a 3 feet tall meat locker in my date's apartment after a nice, romantic dinner. But, it's exactly what you need in order to partake in the newest, fad diet appropriately titled, The Caveman Diet.

It mimics the diet of our ancestors, one high in protein and vegetables. Absolutely NO CARBS! Dieters eat large amounts of meat in one sitting, then fast between meals, imitating the caveman's search for food. Prime physical fitness is one of the benefits of the regimen. Followers feel they can accomplish "fearsome feats".

"These urban cavemen choose exercise routines focused on sprinting and jumping, to replicate how a prehistoric person might have fled from a mastodon."

Mastodons? Really???

World's Smallest Cupcakes!

Well maybe not the smallest, but certainly the cutest. I am such a fan of Baked by Melissa, an innovative cupcake mecca. Her concept, as explained on her website, is simple. Create bite sized desserts so the customer can enjoy different flavors. Brilliant!

I can really appreciate this idea being that every time I go to Billy's Bakery (another amazing sweets spot on 9th & 21st) I enter a sugar coma after ordering 3 different desserts simply because I want to try them all! Well now I can. And with a new location in Union Square, I certainly will.
